WILLIAM MCKENDRICK

William McKendrick (1848-1908) was born near Eassie and Nevay, Angus, Scotland, and grew up near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England. Little is known of his background or training, but he eventually received recognition as Fellow at John Curwen’s Tonic Sol-fa College of Music in London. He remained teaching there until his death in Crouch Hill, London. He was a master of the Tonic Sol-fa system and his part-songs were well received. His music, published by Curwen’s publishing house, included both traditional and Sol-fa notation.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
