Eric DeLamarter (1880-1953) was born in Lansing, Michigan, attended Albion College, and studied in Paris under Félix-Alexandre Guilmant and Charles-Marie Widor. He became assistant conductor and associate conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted the Chicago Civic Orchestra, and was the uncredited orchestra conductor in the film Humoresque (1946). He served as organist at the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago and was music critic for the Chicago Record-Herald and the Chicago Inter-Ocean. He also taught at Olivet College, Chicago Musical College, the University of Missouri, the Ohio State University, and the University of Texas. He was a respected church organist and composer. He died in Orlando, Florida.
