E. H. THORNE

Edward Henry Thorne (1834-1916) was born at Cranbourne, Dorset and studied under Sir George Elvey at Chapel Royal. He became assistant organist at the Chapel Royal, Windsor Castle at age twelve. He held organist and choirmaster positions at Parish Church, Henley-on-Thames (at age 19); Chichester Cathedral; St. Patrick’s Church, Brighton; St. Anne’s, Soho; St. Peter’s, Cranley Gardens, South Kensington; and St. Michael’s, Cornhill. His compositions include anthems, services, organ music, piano music, and vocal pieces.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
