ALFRED MOFFAT

Alfred Edward Moffat (1863–1950) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was educated at Edinburgh Collegiate School and studied musical composition in Berlin. After working several years for German music publishing firms in Berlin, he returned to London where he was active as composer and editor. He was a Member of the Court of Assistants of the Royal Society of Musicians. He edited the Kammersonaten [Chamber Sonata] series published by Schott, and started the Old English Violin Music series published by Novello. His compositions include cantatas, trios, duets, songs, school-song books, pieces for violin and piano and cello and piano. He wrote many vocal arrangements published in The Minstrelsie of Scotland and Folk-songs of England. He died in Fulham, London.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
