CUTHBERT HARRIS

Cuthbert Harris (1870-1932) was born in London, England. He studied at the London Organ School and graduated from Durham College. He was named a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and was organist of St. Andrew’s, Streatham, London; and St. Leonard’s Parish Church, Streatham, London. He was well-known as a teacher of music theory and his courses of instruction by correspondence. He authored First Studies for the Organ and number of piano method books including two written under the pseudonym Gladys Cumberland; A Child's Primer In The Elements Of Music and A Short Primer In The Elements Of Music. Other books include Harmonizing Melodies and Examination Questions and How to Answer Them. As a composer, he was known for organ pieces, piano pieces and anthems.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
