JACQUES BLUMENTHAL

Jacques Blumenthal (1829-1908) was born in Hamburg, Prussia (Germany), and began musical studies at an early age from a number of significant German musicians; then studied the piano at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1848 Blumenthal settled in London, where he became the pianist to Queen Victoria. He was in great demand as a teacher in London society. He composed a number of works and his short piano pieces and songs were the most successful.
