COLLINGWOOD BANKS

Harry Collingwood Banks (1861-1922) was born in Islington, London, England. He was educated at Christ’s Hospital and trained at Royal Academy of Music, where he studied under Sir George Macfarren. At age 19, he became organist at Christ’s Hospital and was organist at Christ Church, Newgate Street. He was organist of Alexandra Palace and was musical director and conductor of the West Enfield Choral and Orchestral Society. He was a frequent recitalist at the Royal Albert Hall. He died in Edmonton, Essex. His compositions include church music, piano pieces, songs, part-songs, and other assorted vocal pieces.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
