HENRY HOLDEN HUSS

Henry Holden Huss (1862–1953) was born in Newark, New Jersey, the son of German immigrants, and grew up in New York City. He first studied piano with his father and other teachers in New York, then traveled to Munich, Germany, to study at the Royal Conservatory and with Josef Rheinberger. He returned to settle in New York City as a teacher, concert pianist, and composer. He was a founder of the American Guild of Organists. His compositions were highly regarded and include works in many genres. He died in NYC.
