JAMES S. FORD

James Shaw Ford (1868-1948) was born in Hunslet, Yorkshire, England. At age 21, he relocated to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, where he was organist at St. John Church and Trinity Church, conductor of The Euterpian Club, recitalist, teacher, and composer. Most of his compositions were church anthems. His verse anthem “Thou, O God, Art Praised in Zion” (1904) won the Clemson Gold Medal awarded by the American Guild of Organists. He died at Duck Cove, New Brunswick.

All are mixed chorus unless noted; some contain divisi.
