JAMES VAUGHAN

Rev. James Stuart Vaughan (1825-1899) was born in Westbury-On-Trym, Gloucester, England, and was educated at Balliol College, Oxford. He served as Vicar of Stockland, Devon, and Curate of Blackawton, Devon. For twenty-six years, he was also Chaplain at Bethlem Royal Hospital, Beckenham, London, the infamous infamous psychiatric asylum and the origin of the term “bedlam” He also wrote a fiction book “The Fiery Circle.” He died in Bristol, Gloucestershire. He published a few works for church use and a part song.
