JOSEPH H. KEARTON

Joseph Harper Kearton (1848-1914) was born in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England. He joined the choir of Trinity Church at age seven and appointed organist of the Congregational Church at fourteen. He became a tenor singer at York Minster and studied privately. He was vicar choral at Wells Cathedral, studied at the royal Academy of Music, and was a vicar choral of Westminster Abbey. He was a seccessful tenor soloist in the region. His compositions include anthems, organ voluntaries, songs and duets.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
