ALAN GRAY

Alan Gray (1855-1935) was born in York, Yorkshire, England. He attended St Peter’s School in York and was trained at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was Director of Music at Wellington College. In 1893 he became organist at Trinity College, Cambridge, holding that position for 37 years. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO) and served as president. He was conductor of the Cambridge University Musical Society for 20 years. He composed a number of cantatas, liturgical music for Anglican services, anthems, hymns, and a number of pieces for organ, for violin solo, and for voice and orchestra to religious and secular texts.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
