James M. Fleming (1838-?) was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied privately in Scotland and became a violinist and writer. He lived in London and contributed to various periodicals, wrote studies for the violin, and authored Old Violins and their Makers, The Practical Violin School, and The Fiddle Fancier’s Guide. d
