LOUIS EMANUEL

Louis Alexander Emanuel (1819-1889) was born in Plymouth, Devon, England, and trained at the Royal Academy of Music. He was appointed bandmaster to the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and saw active duty in India. He was Jewish and served as choirmaster at the Bayswater Synagogue in London. He was also long-time music director at Vauxhall Gardens, London.
