FRANCIS H. CHAMPNEYS

Francis Henry Champneys (1848–1930) was born in Whitechapel, England, and was educated at Winchester and Brasenose College, Oxford. He then was a medical student at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and became a distinguished obstetrician. He was a fellow of the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society and championed raising the status of midwives. He was an accomplished amateur musician, studying under John Goss. He held various musical positions from 1880 to 1913.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
