J. BAPTISTE CALKIN

John Baptiste Calkin (1827-1905) was born in London and received his musical education from his father James Calkin, a pianist, cellist and composer. J. Baptiste was organist, preceptor and choirmaster at the St. Columba’s College in Dublin. Returning to London, he held organist positions at several churches and was professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and later at the Croydon Conservatory.
