CLOWES BAYLEY

John Clowes Bayley (1834-1909) was born in Manchester, England. He was largely associated with the New Church (Swedenborgian). He held several offices with the Church, founding the New Church Orphanage. He apparently was an inventor/entrepreneur, holding patents for “Fire Lighters and Revivers”, “Projectiles and Their Manufacture”, and an “Air-Pump for Pneumatic Tires”. He was well-known in musical circles and mainly wrote organ music and anthems. He died in Highgate, London.
