J. CALVIN BUSHEY

James Calvin Bushey (1847-1929) was born in Arendtsville, Pennsylvania (near Gettysburg). He taught in a singing school at Prairie, Ohio, before moving west. He taught in Mason City, Iowa, was professor of music at Ellsworth College, and taught in Gilman, Illinois, and Peoria, Illinois. He died in Peoria. He compiled and contributed to several collections of sacred and secular music for use in churches, Sunday schools, singing schools, and musical conventions.
