ARTHUR HINTON

Arthur Hinton (1869-1941) was born in Beckenham, Kent, England. He was educated at Shrewsbury School and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. He traveled to Munich, Germany, to study under Rheinberger, then to Vienna and Rome before returning to England. He served as Examiner for the RAM and RCM, visiting Australia, Canada and Jamaica in that function. He was active as composer, conductor, and performer. His wife was accomplished pianist Katharine Goodson (1872-1958). He died in Rottingdean. His compositions include operas, operettas, orchestral pieces, chamber works, piano pieces, songs, and part songs.

All are mixed chorus; some contain divisi.
